Highlighting Artists (January 2014)

At least once a month, every month, I'm going to be highlighting a couple new or up and coming bands/artists that I think are worth checking out. They may have significant buzz or they might not be on many people's radars just yet. The first two bands I'm going to recommend checking out are Nominee and Vowel.

Nominee 3 Song EP Artwork

Nominee is a band out of Austin. They have a really nice alternative pop/rock/punk vibe. You can get a three song EP from the band as a pay-what-you-want on Bandcamp here: http://nomineemusic.bandcamp.com/album/nominee. These guys are worth checking out. The EP is really catchy and well done.

Vowel 4 Way Split Artwork

Vowel has a few releases under their belt, but their most recent split with Things Fall Apart, City Of Ifa, & Light Black has definitely caught my attention. You can download Vowel's tracks from the split as a pay-what-you-want on Bandcamp here: http://vowel.bandcamp.com/album/things-fall-apart-light-black-vowel-city-of-ifa-4-way-split. The band has an interesting blend of post-hardcore and indie rock that creates an interesting contrast of heavy and soft. They also incorporate heavy use of violin in their music which sounds great. This would be great for fans of early Thursday.

*Note:
This will be, at least, a monthly feature. However,  I might try and post this feature a couple times a month. You will at least get a couple recommendations a month this year.
