The Hundred Acre Woods - Cold In The Morning (EP REVIEW)

Something must be in the water this January because so many awesome albums and EP's are coming out. Usually January is pretty lax on good releases. However, this one is not so much. With that being said The Hundred Acre Woods Cold In The Morning EP is another awesome January release.

The EP as a whole kind of a has an acoustic folk/indie rock vibe. The EP is filled with outstanding vocals, lyrics, and catchy music. In a lot of ways the EP reminds me of the music of the Christopher Mansfield project Fences. In fact I'd say that's a great comparison for the sound of the first track on the EP. The other two tracks might be a little more upbeat than something from Fences.

"Whiskey Thieves" kicks off the EP and from this first track you know the band is on to something good . It's instantly catchy and interesting. The lyrics are awesome. It's the kind of song that made me instantly say to myself, "This is really good" on first listen. It has a great, somber vibe that works perfectly for this time of the year. The other two tracks pretty much follow suit and the EP comes off as a really strong release. I can't wait to hear a full length from this band. I really like the way "Loose Parts" builds and the vocals are really cool. They have a really cool catchiness to them.

The Hundred Acre Woods should be on your radar. This EP is fantastic, really well written, and the production on it is really nice. Get into January! Seriously there have been some great releases that shouldn't missed. This is most definitely one of them. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if this makes my best of EP's list this year.
