True Love - Heaven’s Too Good For Us (Album Review)

This is the best hardcore punk album I have heard this year so far, period, no contest. I have been an avid fan of True Love since A Floral Note. In fact that EP is one of my favorite hardcore releases of the last few years. It's short and fast; it flows well. I love the American Nightmare influences. The band continued the trend on New Young Gods and I really enjoyed that EP as well. Now here's the great thing: Heaven’s Too Good For Us continues the trend. It's fantastic! It's under twenty minutes of pummeling, well flowing, and well paced straight edge, hardcore punk. I think this is an album that deserves to be listened to in full.

I almost can't pick out a favorite song because it's all pretty awesome. I'd recommend just hitting play on the first song "Piece For A Piece" then just letting this album run through to the final song "Stay True". You won't regret it. I really like how the vocals turned out on this one. The drums sound great. They just thunder through this album with a quick reckoning and I really like how they were mixed. The guitar riffs on the album are fun to listen to and they lead the album in a lot of ways and help create a nice intensity throughout the album.

The band re-recorded a few tracks from A Floral Note and I think they fit nicely in the track list. This is easily one of the better hardcore punk albums I've heard in a while. It's safe to say that this band has that something special. They deliver time and time again. I would give high ratings to every release they've created. They finally delivered their debut album and it is everything you could ever ask for. Some bands have trouble transitioning form the EPs to the debut album and I'm glad this band didn't encounter any of those growing pains. It's a little longer, but it's all quality. Quite honestly I think this album will grow to be a favorite this year for me. I think it will easily make my top 10 or 15 best albums list at the end of the year. I also believe it will have very long leg with me and also in the straight edge hardcore community. Don't miss this album!
