The Hotelier - Home, Like Noplace Is There (Album Review)

The Hotel Year is back with a slightly different name and a much more realized sound. After first listen The Hotelier's Home, Like No Place There Is gives an overall feeling that this is the type of album that is kind of like a no holds barred roller coaster ride of emotions. It can be an exciting and overwhelming listen. One thing is for certain, though; after the first listen you'll definitely be pleased at how awesome this album turned out.

The album is nine tracks in length. It's hard not to notice how exceptionally well this album has been crafted. Musically and lyrically it is truly a work of art. It takes the listener on a wild ride. I had previously streamed a few songs from this album before I received an advance. The song "Your Deep Rest" peaked my interest instantly. The sound and lyrics of the song reminded me of something you could have easily found on a band like Saves The Day's album Stay What You Are. It also reminds me a little of their label mates State Lines song "Cancer" in the way that the music is so catchy and enjoyable while the lyrics deal with some really heavy themes. It is easily my favorite track off the album. "Housebroken" is another song that sticks out as a really great track. The black sheep on the album is the track "Life In Drag" which is a much heavier song than the majority of the album. It helps give the listener something a little different and interesting. I like the placement of it on the album because it helps it to fit in really well. Although  it’s different, I like the track a lot and think it is a really cool inclusion on the album. Honestly of the nine tracks you could easily say that any one of them could be any listener’s favorite. The tracks are so even in how good they are.

The only downfall to the album is it is a little on the slim side being only nine tracks long. With that being said you shouldn't let it detour you in any way from getting this one. It's nine super solid tracks. There is no filler on this one. It’s a fantastic album from start to finish vocally and musically. It's rare that you'll hear an album this good.

Home, Like No Place There Is is a big step up for The Hotelier. This is the kind of album that makes top 10 best of the year lists. I wouldn't be surprised if you see it high on a lot of blogs/people’s lists at the end of 2014. Don't miss out on this one. I think it will be one of the more talked about albums coming out of the indie/punk/emo scene this year and it’s well worth it.
