Masked Intruder - "Take What I Want" (Single Review)

You know, at this point, I've grown pretty comfortable with the fact that Masked Intruder, a multi-colored sock cap masked gang of punk hooligans, can generate some pretty fun, funny, fast, and quirky pop/punk. With the debut of the new song and the EP artwork featuring Garbage Pail Kids influenced artwork it's easy to see that this band gets what they are about and they know what the fans want. The band's last full length album, 2014's M.I., pretty much followed suite with their self-titled album in terms of sound and style. "Take What I Want" is the band's debut single for new label Purenoise Records and it sounds like the band has stepped up their game in terms of production style. The song follows a similar song writing and lyrical vibe that we've come to expect from the band, but the song sounds a lot more pop in production style and I think that adds a lot to the catchy nature of the band. This single sounds slightly bigger, a little more refined, and I think it's definitely a big step in the right direction. The step-up in production style brings out the catchiness of about every aspect of the band's sound on this single in a better way than most of M.I. did. This is tried and true Masked Intruder music shined up and ready for summer. It's a fun song and it's definitely worth checking out!
