Holder - Sound In The Signals Interview

I recently had the opportunity to interview Holder. We discussed physical merch, collaborating with Ephyra, their plans for new music, and more. Check it out below.
First, thanks for the interview.
Of course, thank u for the interview!
You recently announced cassettes, CDs, and merch for your EP. How important is having physical media to your band?
Having physical media for our band is something we’ve all been looking forward to doing at some point, we all collect physical music ourselves so being able to put out our first run of cds and tapes is a huge accomplishment for us.
Ephyra is putting it out. How did you end up working with the label?
They first reached out to us about playing a show with gxllium, i have no mouth, and Montclair at the crunch house in Connecticut. After talking with them some more, they offered to put out physical media for us.
I really like the song “Five” from the EP. What was the writing process like for that song specifically?
Five was actually one of the easier ones for us to come up with on that EP. Our guitarist Bradley came up with the original riff and introduced it to us, and after a few practices we had the basis of the song down. The writing process for the whole EP spanned over the course of 4-5 months, so all of the songs used to sound drastically different for the most part and over time they just formed into what they are now.
You’ve added a new vocalist since the EP. How did that come about? How has that changed the experience so far?
We actually had a couple different vocalists before Brie, after things didn’t work out with our first vocalist who’s on the EP, our homie Caz picked up vocals for us until he decided that he had too much going on with his personal life. It’s been super easy writing with Brie, and the shows/practices have felt natural.
Do you know when we might hear new music with your new vocalist? What does she bring to the band that’s different from your previous singer?
We’re aiming to release music within the next 4-6 months, but that could change based upon how happy we are with what we have written or recorded. Brie’s creative input has positively influenced the writing process.
Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions. Do you have anything else that you would like to add?
We answered these questions at Chilis. I got a triple dipper with big mouth bites, southwestern egg rolls, and fried mozzarella. Bradley got boneless buffalo wings. Brie got loaded mac and cheese. It was a side. Avery (drummer) got the Santa Fe chicken salad. Alex got honey bbq boneless wings with fries. We also got 3 lava cakes.
