Seasons Change - Sound In The Signals Interview

I recently had the chance to interview up and coming pop/punk group Seasons Change. Check out the full interview after the jump.

You guys just premiered your new video for "Save It" on Ap.net. What was the video shoot process like? Do you enjoy the music video making process?

The process was absolutely amazing. We actually won a "MUSICIAN'S WANTED" contest that Google and Youtube were hosting, so we got to film it at the YouTube Space LA, which was insane. We got to experience things that we never though we'd get to see in our entire lives.

Your EP Nothing & Everything came out this year and it's been really creating a buzz. What was the recording process like for the EP?

It's nice to know that it has been! Recording the EP was really fun. We met two new, great friends in the process, Andrew Glover and Jeff Dunne, (among many really cool in-and-outs) who both worked on the EP, and there wasn't a day that felt like work, which is the way it should be. Although we're beyond happy with the end-product, we plan to push much harder on our new release, which will be a little different.

Did you expect to get this type of reaction from websites, music fans, etc... when you released it?

Honestly, we didn't know what to expect, but we don't really worry too much about what happens when we put music out. Of course, like any band or musician, or artist, we want people to listen and enjoy our music, but these songs were very personal and meant a lot to us. We write for ourselves, because it's fun, and because it helps, so when people really dig it, it just makes everything a thousand times better. It's an incredible feeling.

One song in paticular that I like on the EP is "Bitter Thoughts" which incorporates some hardcore elements into your music. What was the song writing process like in particular for that song and why did you guys want to include some of the heavy elements along with the mostly pop/punk vibe of the EP?

Well, it was as simple as, "Let's try to do something really different in this song. Let's try to do something that people don't do." We know easycore has made a lasting name for itself in the scene and many people like the breakdowns in pop punk songs, but we're all huge fans of hardcore and have been for awhile, so we wanted to try and incorporate a "breakdown" that we're more used to.

You've had the chance to work with Ap.net on premiering this video as well as songs. How does having the opportunity to work with a big site like that impact your band?

The first time we had a release through Absolute Punk was when we released our single, "Not Sorry" and it did amazing things for us. It was an honor to be premiered on the site and the exposure was insane. We felt lucky to get our music video premiered as well, and we couldn't be more grateful.

2013 has been a good for Seasons Change what do you have coming up for the rest of the year and the first part of 2014? Any chance fans can expect a full length or another EP anytime soon?

It really has been, and it's all thanks to our fans and friends who have supported us, so before I answer your question, we just want to thank everyone that's helped us.
We can't release too much information, but we're going to be announcing US tour dates for January very soon, so you can be on the lookout for that. We will also be recording a new EP early next year, but again, we can't release anymore information.

With so many new and young pop/punk groups coming out right now how do you guys set your band apart from the pack of up and coming bands?

Not too sure. We try to stay away from the "this is a competition" mindset, because it's not. We just stay real, we write about real things, and we stay focused on writing music that we enjoy, and not so much on what we know is in or trending. We were starting to fall into a mold, and we really woke up, and feel like we're coming into our own. Our fans, well, everyone, will see a new Seasons Change with our next release, a better Seasons Change.

I guess that about wraps it up. Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions. Do you have any closing comments you'd like to make?

Absolutely, thanks so much for having us.

We just want to thank everyone that's helped us grow as a band. We're going to start the new year hard and push more than ever, so don't think we're going anywhere. Can't wait to see you all on the road!
