I Surrender Records Presents: Our Voices (EP Review)
I Surrender Records Presents: Our Voices is the first EP in what the label hopes is an ongoing series. The series focuses on solo tracks from some highly respected band members in the punk and indie community. The debut launch of the series features Adam Lazzara of Taking Back Sunday, Anthony Raneri of Bayside, Chris Conley of Saves The Day, and Vinnie Caruana of The Movielife and I Am The Avalanche. That alone got me interested to check out the project.
The key to making a project like this work is actually delivering good artists to the listener. I Surrender has done just that with this release. It's a stellar line-up. It's the kind of line-up that really draws your attention to the release. The second key is being able to create a vibe on an EP that represents each artist while maintaining flow. I really like the vibe and flow of the EP. It's mostly acoustic based and all the songs seem to fit very well together. Every artist brings an extremely high level of talent to his respective song. These are voices you've come to know and enjoy over the years.
It's hard to pick a favorite track off this because I enjoy all of the artists featured. I can say I especially enjoyed Vinnie Caruana's track though. He brought an energy to the EP I really enjoyed. The same could be said for all of the artists. One of the coolest things about the EP is that it showcases how different each voice is on the EP while showing how all of these artists fit together to create the scene they come from.
Honestly if you enjoy any of these artists respected bands you are going to want to check out this release. It's a cool fun release that’s filled with good songs. I Surrender put together a really cool project and it definitely peaks my interest to what they could do in the future with this series.
