Leisure Hour - ‘...and to think’ (Album Track by Track)

Leisure Hour recently released their new album ‘...and to think’. We’re excited to share their track by track. Check it out below, listen here, and check out the vinyl, cassette, and CD options here

1. Not Done Begging (Yet) - This is the first time we recorded a song with all 3 of our vocals in it. The chorus was inspired by The Story So Far and the verse is inspired by “Ocean Avenue.” It’s about struggling to let go of a relationship, and the fear, anger, and sadness one goes through with that. - Isaiah

2. IF I COULD K*LL YOU (I WOULD) - I wrote this while I was pissed at someone and I thought, “How can I make this emotion as dramatic as humanly possible?” Then I posted the hook to Tik Tok and many people thought I was writing it about suicide. I connected to that a lot, and even wondered if that was the true subconscious intention of the song, because I face those thoughts everyday. That definitely affected the lyrics of the verses.

3. Ode to Muncie - Ode to Muncie is a song written about my love-hate relationship for our hometown while also enjoying the beauty of the community and family I have/have built for my personal life. It’s really a love letter to my hometown and those who are a part of my life. - Raegan

4. Haunted - Listening to Selena Gomez and the Scene circa 2009 inspired me to want to make a song that felt Disney channel pop adjacent. I have found that so many songs I loved as a little girl are reflective of the music taste I have today, and listening back I still find them to be great songs. It’s a song about an estranged relationship, and I think listeners can attach their own estranged relationship to it. - Grace

5. Morning Song - I wanted to write a very midwest emo song. I made this riff that feels like the baby of “Two Beers In” by Free Throw and “Death Cup” by Mom Jeans. Grace and I then wrote the song about the night we fell in love with each other.

6. Jobs - This song is like if PUP and Hobo Johnson had a baby. People online said I sound like the “F-R-E-E that spells FREE CREDIT REPORT DOT COM BABY” commercial, which is spot on and hilarious. I think it was inspired by Chapel Roan’s “Champagne Supernova” as well. - Isaiah

7. Happy Birthday! - I wrote this with my 26th birthday coming up. I didn’t know I wanted to be a professional musician until I was 22. It’s been 4 years of failure, and at the time of writing the song, I was living with my parents so we could afford to tour. The song is about all of this. It’s about growing older and feeling your dreams slip away and struggling with that. - Isaiah

8. Validation - Validation is really about seeking validation from someone/something so much that you start to feel like you’re losing yourself in the process. It’s really areminder that finding validation in yourself and your dreams is more important than finding it in someone else. It’s an anthem to anyone who has ever felt like they lost themselves in someone/something. - Raegan

9. Chicago - Chicago is pretty straightforward about associating a specific place with a certain person, which although cliche, is real and relatable to many. Sometimes you can go weeks or months without thinking of that person but then things like places or smells can only make you think of that person, which is a weird and hard feeling to process sometimes. We also love Microwave and I think you can hear that in this song, especially the breakdown in the end. - Grace

10. Roku City - Roku City is a song about love in all its various forms; between relationships, heart breaks, family while lyrically placing these stories in the fictional Roku City. You can see those nodes to Roku City throughout the lyrics of the song immersing listeners to this fictional world. - Raegan

11. jenny - I don't know what to say about this song. It literally feels like I didn't write it. I'm always TRYING to write a song. This one fell out of the sky. I feel very lucky. It's already helped a lot of people, and that's all I want to do with my music. - Isaiah
