Wes Hoffman - Sound In The Signals Interview

I recently had the opportunity to interview Wes Hoffman. We discussed writing and recording his new single, “What’s Left of Me”, which is out today, his podcast and how he became interested in podcasting, what’s coming up this year, and more. Check it out below.

First, thanks for the interview.

Thanks so much for the opportunity and for what you do for the music community! I've been following for a while and I love your content.

You’re releasing a new single today. What can you tell me about writing and recording it? What can fans expect?

I've been working on this song for a while. It's called "What's Left of Me”. It's about going through major transitions in your life, being there for your friends and having them be there for you. I recorded it at Encapsulated Studios with Gabe Usery. The recording process went very smooth and was really enjoyable. Gabe does phenomenal work and Justin Unterseh killed it on the drums. The song is fast-paced and melodic with some fun riffs and sing-along chorus.

Have you been working on a lot of new music? Is there any chance that we could hear an EP or album this year?

Yes! I have another single to release in a few months and will be working on an EP release late summer!

What’s your experience been like recording at Encapsulated Studios?

Encapsulated is an amazing place. I've had a practice space there for over 5 years now. They have an awesome studio and the recording quality was impeccable. Gabe Usery engineered, mixed, and mastered the songs and did a phenomenal job. I'm very happy with how the recording turned out.

You also have a podcast. Can you tell me a little about Wes Hoffman with Friends? What are some of your favorite episodes?

Yes! I used to have a podcast called The StrangeHouse as well. We followed the Vans Warped Tour in 2017 and talked to a lot of punk rock bands. With "Wes Hoffman with Friends," I talk with friends and bands about what inspires them, personal growth, self-care, and self improvement. A couple of my recent favorite episodes were with American Thrills, Nominee, and Sundressed. I should have some new episodes out soon!

How did you initially become interested in podcasting?

I've always loved having deep conversations with my friends. In 2014, my good friend Corey Smale and I started StrangeHouse with Dane Dickmann and Michael Hurst. We just loved having good conversations with our friends and each other. So we moved forward, and it grew from there. I love hearing other people's stories and sharing them with the world.

Can you tell me about some of the upcoming episode topics you have plans for or guests you will have or would like to have on the podcast?

I have an episode to release soon with my friend Judd Demaline. We talk a lot about spirituality, masculinity, etc. I'm really big on believing in yourself, and unlocking your personal power, which I truly believe we all have.

Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions. Do you have anything else that you would like to add?

Thanks for having me and again for the opportunity! Look for my new single on March 5th and please follow me on Spotify for updates!
