High Score - “Better Luck Next Time” Ft. Chaney Elaine (Song Review)

High Score debuted earlier this year with a two song single that felt fresh while throwing back to the golden era of pop/punk. With this new single the band stripped it down and brought in House Parties vocalist, Chaney Elaine to guest. The result is the band’s best song yet. This is a great song for spring/summer night listening. The production feels slightly improved from the debut material from the band. The improvement in production allows James Wagers vocals to shine and showcase his abilities a little more. The acoustic guitar feels summery and bright.

If you’re waiting to hear more from House Parties (after their great debut song) this is a chance to hear Chaney Elaine who once again delivers a really solid vocal performance. The coupling of the two vocalists works out really well and they compliment each other nicely. If performed correctly, I always enjoy a good acoustic pop/punk song. I think this song does it right and I would recommend it. Check out what the band has to say about the song’s meaning here
