Bonfires - Release EP & Announce Lead Singer Departure

Bonfires has released their new EP as a name your price on bandcamp: HERE. The band also announced their lead singer has left the band. He does however appear on the new EP. Stream the EP and read a message from both the band and the singer after the jump.

Bonfires:
After careful thought and a lot of internal conversation, our vocalist Zech Pluister will be stepping away from his role in Bonfires. This may come across as a sudden decision to our fans, but it’s an important decision for us to make, and we want to be as transparent as we can about it in order to keep the band moving on.

With that said, we recorded an EP called "The Way This Ends" over the summer. This development threw a wrench in our plans to release the record early next year, so, in cooperation with Bad Timing Records, we've decided to release the entire EP digitally today. It is available to stream and buy for name-your-price right now on Bandcamp. Bad Timing is helping us out with this release, and since there will be no physical pressings of the record, all the proceeds from this EP will be helping us all recoup the costs of recording. "The Way This Ends" will be available on iTunes/other digital music services tomorrow. This will be our last release with Zech on vocals.

Former Vocalist Zech Pluister:

Dearest friends, fans, and anyone who has ever followed my musical career. Today is a very sad day for me. After an absolutely incredible year and a half I've made the decision to step down as the vocalist of Bonfires. The decision was without a doubt one of the hardest I've ever made.

I'm stepping down because recently, the musical vision that we all had in the beginning was no longer the same across the board. These things happen. People change over time, they grow apart, music tastes change, goals change, and in the last couple months I've realized that the vision I have no longer coincides with that of the other members of the band. So I will be pursuing some new musical venture sometime soon.

Over the course of my time in the band a lot of things happened, good and bad, internal and external, amazing tours, good and bad shows. I will never forget my time with the other four incredibly talented musicians that I've spent the better part of five years making music with, in Bonfires and other projects, and none of it would have been possible without them. I want to thank Kyle, Brad, Kevin and Nate for being apart of this with me. I love you, and I hope nothing but the best for all of you and the future of Bonfires.

Most importantly, I want to thank the fans, because without all of you amazing people, guys like me wouldn't have chance to do the thing we love most, and it truly is a very special thing. Each and every one of you will always have a place in my heart. Thank you for coming to our shows, screaming words at me, talking to me after shows, all of the pictures. I sincerely cannot thank you enough. I love you all so dearly, I cant even begin to express it.

My last two shows will be Snowed In this Saturday the 19th in Cleveland, OH and our House Of Blues show in Chicago with Cardboard Cutout, Detour North, and Lights Over Bridgeport on Monday the 21st. Please come out and help me say goodbye in the best way possible.

So thank you everyone, this isn't the end for me musically. Hopefully I'll be back with something for everyone soon.
