Talking Music: Any Album/Any Era/Any Genre (August 2014)

It's time again for the monthly weekend feature where I pick albums from any era or genre and briefly discuss why I think they are awesome. Check out the albums I picked to talk about this month after the jump!

New Found Glory - New Found Glory
Released In 2000

This is a genre defining pop/punk album in my opinion and is an album that I instantly liked when I heard it. So many bands have tried to emulate and have been influenced by New Found Glory. There is usually a debate on whether this album or Sticks & Stones is NFG's best work. I like both albums a tremendous amount. I got this album around the time it was released and it always tends to be a little bit more of my favorite. Great songs. Super fun listen.

Belle & Sebastian - Tiger Milk
Released In 1996

Belle & Sebastian have a laundry list of awesome albums under their belt. Tiger Milk is the band's debut album and one of my favorite albums from the band. They are definitely influenced by The Smiths in a lot of ways. I like that. The music has a great kind of indie alternative pop feel. The first track "The State I Am In" is in my top 5 favorite songs this band has ever written. It's just a great intro song to an awesome album.

A Tribe Called Quest - People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm
Released In 1990

How can you not dig this album? "I Left My Wallet in El Segundo" is in my top favorite rap songs. The Tribe, as a whole, sound awesome. The rapping is light and breezy. The album has great beats. I can never decide whether I like this album or the Low End Theory more. Low End Theory, as a whole, is better, but "I Left My Wallet..." is the one song by the Tribe that I always want to hear.
