The Republic Of Wolves - No Matter How Narrow (Album Review)

The Republic Of Wolves has been a very well loved indie band since they emerged on the scene amidst rumors that their songs were demos for Brand New's album Daisy. That alone is some pretty high praise showing just how talented the group is. Now on their second album, No Matter How Narrow, the band has really hit their stride. I think this album is the band truly finding themselves and their sound and it is a huge accomplishment.

One thing I really like about the album is the experimentation with the sound. This is still very much the sound you've come to know from The Republic Of Wolves, but it’s mixed with some more light-hearted catchy material. There are a lot more moods found on No Matter How Narrow than the bands debut and it makes for a more well rounded listening experience.

"Spare Key" is a song the band released early for stream and I think it's a great representation of a little of the experimentation the band has done with the sound. It definitely stands out on the album. Lyrically it's fantastic. Even with the experimentation of sound the band hasn't abandoned the sound that you've come to enjoy from their releases. "Arithmetic On The Frontier" features a sound more similar to that found on Varuna. The vocals are really well done on the song and are definitely one of my  favorite things about the song.

Varuna was a huge statement album that the band could live up to the hype. No Matter How Narrow is an even bigger statement in my opinion. In my opinion it's a better album than the debut. It's creative, catchy, interesting, and it's rare. It's rare that bands release albums this good. This album will have no problem finding it's way onto my best of list this year. Pick this one up because you won't be disappointed.
