Living Together - Sound In The Signals Interview

I recently had the opportunity to interview Living Together. We discussed their writing and recording process for their upcoming EP, ‘In Lieu of Change’, artwork, collaborating with Endnote Records, plans for the future, and more. Check it out below.
First, thanks for the interview.
Of course! Thank you for having us.
Can you tell me how you started the band for those who may be unfamiliar with it? How did you become interested in music and in pursuing music?
We all met playing shows together with previous bands and really hit it off based on mutual music taste. All of us have had a passion for music since we were young so it only felt natural to pursue making music that we love and connect with.
You’re about to release your debut EP, ‘In Lieu Of Change’. Can you tell me about the writing and recording process for it?
As far as the writing, we more often than not start with a cool idea and build off it together. We've made it a point to take our time to make sure we're creating the best art we can, while also leaving room for additional writing in the studio. Zu and Cam write lyrics both separately and together, while trying to work in relevant themes from their day to day. Occasionally the lyrics will be written before the song is finished, but oftentimes they're worked into the finished product. We recorded the EP with Chris Curran at Reclaim Music Studios between June of 2025 and finished the last song in March 2026. He was instrumental in helping us achieve the sound we were going for and turning these songs into the best versions they could be.
Do you have a favorite lyrical or musical moment from the EP? Why?
I think we all have slightly different favorite moments on the EP, but collectively we're all super happy with the project as a whole. We're all really proud of how we've been able to mesh our ideas from individual influences while staying on the same page for what we set out for. The bridge in "Common Ground" and the intensity of the lyrics for "Bako" certainly stand out to us though.
I really like the artwork for the EP. It’s really neat. I haven’t seen many bands using that style of imagery. Who designed the artwork and came up with the concept for it?
The drummer of our band Oscar designed the artwork and the concept for the cover. We've been really inspired by bands like Circa Survive and Citizen, who have a cohesive aesthetic with their artwork and when we realized how sick Oscar's style was, we immediately asked him if he would take the reins for our aesthetic. Reflecting on his process and inspiration Oscar said, "I have always enjoyed abstract style drawings with bold lines, vibrant colors, and exaggerated features so that's kind of what I've been doing with LT. Most designs start as a rough sketch, I'll show the guys at practice and we'll build upon it over time. It has been a really fun process, and I'm really happy to be doing art for the band".
You’re working with Endnote Records for CDs and cassettes of the EP. How did you end up working with them?
Richard from Endnote Records reached out to us after we released "Bako" in April, and I think we just got lucky that they believed in us enough to put out physical media. Endnote is based out of both Southern Ontario and Eastern Connecticut so it's dope to be working with a label with roots in our area. They've been nothing but the best to us and we're super grateful to be working with them.
