Still Feel Gone - Sound In The Signals Interview

📸 Luke Ivanovich

I recently had the opportunity to interview Still Feel Gone. We discussed their writing and recording process for their album, ‘Presley’, artwork, collaborating with RTF Records, and more. Check it out below.

First, thanks for the interview.

Thank you for your time and interviewing us; seriously all of us really appreciate it.

Your album ‘Presley’ came out in January. Have you been pleased with the response it’s received so far? How does it feel now that’s been out for a few months?

The response has been pretty solid so far. A lot of thanks to RTF and getting it in front of the right people. A lot of the songs have been around for 10 years now so finally getting them out feels great, but I think I speak for us all that we’re ready to move onto the next chapter of SFG with writing new songs and playing out as much as we’re able to.

It’s one of my favorite albums so far this year. Sonically and mood wise, I think these songs are really well done. I know you wrote some a while ago and some are newer. What was the process of writing the album and selecting the songs like for you?

Chris: I guess when it came to selecting the songs out of the old ones we chose the ones that explained us the most: “Vulcher” “Anthem” “Sad In South Orange”. The new ones kinda fell into place. Two of which Dante wrote and had been sitting on for a bit and “Regular Dog” which Igor wrote. We kinda just jammed throughout 2025 not really having a plan just that we wanted to record so there’t much put into the song “selection” just what sounded good to us and what was ready to record.

Many of you have also played in hardcore bands. Do you approach the writing differently than you would with that style of music? Why/why not?

Angel: Honestly, yes, I feel like all of us approach writing SFG songs very freely and not overthinking it. I do appreciate we can be much more expressive with this project; it’s truly a fresh breath of air for all of us.

“Vulcher” is a favorite of mine and I also really like “Sad In South Orange”. Can you tell me about writing those songs specifically?

“Vulcher” is one of our favorites to play live honestly haha, but Vulcher is the nickname of a friend of ours. The song is kinda like the groundhogs day we all lived in growing up in Bloomfield. Struggling with addictions, losing friends, and being trapped in a town you wanna leave so desperately.

“Sad in South Orange” is about infidelity. Dante is direct about it. It is a difficult song in that sense and it is an experience that we’ve all been on both sides of. But it is necessary

The album artwork is really cool. I read that it was based on your dog. Who designed it? Can you tell us about the meaning behind it and why you decided to feature it?

Chris: The album artwork was done by Igor. It’s of my dog Presley who sadly passed over the summer. Presley was blind and deaf and the sweetest dog to ever exist. It broke my family’s heart losing her. The album is dedicated to all dogs especially her because they are the greatest things on this planet.

You released the CDCD through RTF Records. How did you end up working with them?

Dante: I grew up listening to all the music that Pat Gerity of RTF put out. He is one of the hardest working people I know and put out my other band’s music. I knew when we started SFG again that I wanted to put out the record through RTF, but only if Pat actually liked what we’re doing.

So I asked him to listen to the album and wanted to know how he genuinely felt about it. When he told me he loved it, I knew that we’d be working together. Without him, our reach would be significantly diminished. We owe him a great deal.

Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions. Do you have anything else that you want to add?

Thank you for your time seriously.

I think the last thing I’d like to add is to say whoever is reading and is in limbo about starting a band please do it. Go to your local shows, support the bands and be included in your scene, you will meet a lot of people like you that are in to the same stuff you’re in to seriously.
