Lucky You - Sound In The Signals Interview

I recently had the opportunity to interview Lucky You. We discussed how they started the band, their upcoming EP, plans for 2026, and more. Check it out below.
First, thanks for the interview.
No, thank you! We totally appreciate you guys reaching out and supporting us.
I know many of your members come from various other bands. Can you tell me how you started the band for those who may be unfamiliar with it? How did you become interested in music?
The story goes, Gabe (our vocalist) was posting some unreleased music on his story that I really liked (Kevin, drums). I followed Gabe since he played in Conduit from south Jersey many moons ago, probably at a time when I was drumming in Shackled. Conduit and Straight Jacket Feeling played a couple shows together too. From there we started playing with the idea of getting together.
Gabe was at a Straight Jacket show at Salty’s (rip), and Kyle came over and we just all came to the agreement that we’d start working together. It all happened pretty naturally. We needed more people to help out and Tyler is really great at guitar so naturally Gabe asked if he’d be interested. We also have a couple other members who joined after the promos were taken, Kevin2 and Mantis. The band was rounded out and ready to go.
Music has always been a huge part of my life, I grew up listening to Led Zeppelin, Good Charlotte, into some hip hop like 50 Cent. When I was 13 or so I got a drum set and the rest is history. Playing in horrible middle school bands in my parent’s basement. Evolving over the years. In high school, I was in Batten Down the Hatches and met Kyle on a tour with a band from Massachusetts. Kyle actually punched me in the stomach when I called him fat back when I was like 17. We clearly have made up and have become really close actually.
You recently released your new song “Parasite”. Can you tell me about writing it?
Parasite was born in a practice space. Gabe came in with the general idea on guitar, I added drums, we worked out the arrangement, and Parasite was born. It was recorded with Len at Landmine Studios who understood our vision bringing to the point you heard it through your streaming provider.
You’re working with Takedown Records. How did you end up working with them?
Dylan is a good friend of mine. We were both in Shackled back in the day and have remained close over the years post. He’s always supported us and really digs the songs we have coming.
They’re teasing a CD release coming soon. Is that for an album or EP.? What can you tell me about it so far?
It’s going to be a 3 song EP with Parasite included. The other two songs are pretty wild, Parasite is probably the most tame on it. I’m really excited for you to hear that, there’s gonna be some elements on it that don’t seem to be happening too much in the local scenes around here. I think we’re pushing the envelope with it and made something really really cool.
What is coming up for the band in 2026?
We have more tracks in the works. We are open to playing shows whenever we can. That’s the real reason the band exists. We all love music and performing. We don’t mind as long as we’re having fun with it. We have some show offers coming in with the single out, and we hope to get on some of the amazing takedown gigs too.
Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions. Do you have anything else that you want to add?
Thank you to everyone listening. We have more music coming in February, the specifics still being worked out with Takedown, so keep your eyes peeled. We’re super proud of what we made so we can’t wait to show y’all!
