Dally - Sound In The Signals Interview
I recently had the opportunity to interview Dally. We discussed how they were inspired to pursue music, their new song “Million Miles”, artwork, and more. Check it out below.
First, thanks for the interview.
Thanks for thinking of us!
Can you tell me how you started the band for those who may be unfamiliar with it? How did you become interested in music?
Dally has been a project we Jonny (guitarist/vocalist) and I (Manny/bassist) started in 2018. My interest (Manny) came from watching my grandpa play traditional norteños song on the guitar as a kid.
Jonny: I’ve been interested in music since I was young and I picked up my first instrument when I was 10. The first album I remembering hearing was Coldplay “parachutes”. It was a CD my mom had in her car and I put that in to listen to it and it changed my life.
You recently released your song “Million Miles”. Can you tell me about writing it?
Jonny came with the skeleton of the song and we got together, rearranged some riffs, and got it to where it is today. Jonny is a big help with the melodies and I (Manny) mainly wrote the lyrics. It’s how most of the dally songs have been written.
Do you have a favorite lyric or musical moment from it? Why?
Manny: Favorite moment has to be the chorus, it’s so catchy.
Jonny: When the bridge comes in, it hits everyone with a lot of emotion. That part had all of us in the band singing over and over again.
The artwork for the single has a neat vintage photo and overall look. Where did you get that photo from?
Our friend Sage (@mentallyxvexedd) did the artwork for us. I’m not sure where he got the picture but I (Manny) told him to reference the Foundation - At Your Mercy 7”. I love that cover and band, I thought it would be a great homage.
Can we expect more new music this year? Is there any chance that you’re working on an EP or album? If so, what can you tell us so far?
Yes, we have a couple of singles ready to go, keep an eye out for that!
Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions. Do you have anything else that you want to add?
Thank you everyone who’s given us a second of their time. We love playing music and hope to share that love and excitement with all of you.
