Sleep Schedule - Sound In The Signals Interview

📸 Sad Reminders Photography

I recently had the opportunity to interview Sleep Schedule. We discussed their EP ‘ILYSM’, releasing cassettes via Chillwavve, previewing new songs live, upcoming plans, and more. Check it out below.

First, thanks for the interview.

Of course ! Stoked y'all thought to interview us.

You released your EP, 'ILYSM' last November. How does it feel now that it has been out for a while?

Honestly, it's been better than we could have ever imagined. We are so happy with how it came out (shout out Diego Noyola, Matt Aldawood, and Fuzzywallz Mastering) and the reaction from the people and new and old fans who’ve reached out to us after its’ release has been so positive.

What do you hope listeners take away from the EP? What did you take away from the process of creating it?

I hope it gets people as hype as we are to play it. We put a lot of time, thought, and emotion into it. Even though it's only four songs, I feel like it perfectly encapsulates what Sleep Schedule is.

Which song on the EP was the hardest to write and on the other hand which song was the easiest one to complete?

So I'd say hardest and longest to write is a tie between Oliver N Company and Sequences. Not that they were hard to write but that we all kept adding more and more to the songs or changing them completely. The easiest I would say would be Chameleon because we wrote all the parts back in 2020 during COVID and have mostly kept it the same.

Chillwavve released cassettes for the EP. What was that process like for the band? How important is it to you to have physical releases?

Yoo so that was totally surreal for us. We’ve been a fan of Chillwavve for a while and all the music they've helped put out. It was by last second chance we were added to a TRSH show in Austin (shout out our best homies in tiny sounds collective and Arnold House) because another band dropped out. The owner of Chillwavve happened to catch our set and I guess he liked it because a few days later he dm’d us if we wanted to release cassettes through Chillwavve and of course we said yes. Having physical releases is something we've thought for this release and we are just so grateful to Chillwavve for being help us do that.

You recently announced getting a new drummer and mentioned that you're excited for everyone to hear what you've been working on. What can you tell us about it so far?

Yeah, so recently we got a new drummer Caleb and he is really just pushing us to our limits to be the best we can be. His energetic precise playing is exactly what we need for what's to come ;)

You also mentioned fans might hear a preview of it if they see you at shows. How are the new songs going over with the crowds? Is there one you're enjoying performing the most? Why?

So these new songs are so special to us in the fact that we've grown so much together in writing and playing together. We've played 2 new songs out of an array of new ones and the crowd has given more love for them than we could have asked for. As of right now we are enjoying playing Roach Motel the most. Come see us to hear it live and if you aren't able to come see us be ready because we are about to release it as well :)

Is there a timeline for when fans might hear more about an upcoming release? What else do you have coming up for this year?

Be ready for a late summer release as well a fall/winter release :)
We have Thin Line Fest in Denton coming up next week and Nate Fest in August in Corpus! Anything further you'll have to stay tuned into our Instagram for announcements.

Thanks for answering the questions. Do you have anything else that you'd like to add?
