Sound In The Signals - Issue Of The Month: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 56 (March 2016)

It's time for another issue of the month when I pick one issue from any current running comic series to highlight. For March 2016 I decided to pick Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, issue 56. Read the full feature after the jump.

Spoiler Below:

This is a big issue for the series. There were many good issues of current series out this month including issues of Saga, Revival, and Batman & Robin Eternal. March was stacked with quality. I ended up choosing the heroes in a half shell because the long teased debut of ***SPOILER: Leatherhead finally came to fruition. The classic TMNT character made his debut in a big way. The issue is interesting, teases a big mystery, and really does the Leatherhead character a lot of justice in both design and personality, at least on first impression. His appearance is setting up an introductory arc for the character that should be mysterious and a really cool read. The artwork on this issue is great. After a few issues of different art styles after TMNT issue 50 this issue is sliding back into the comfort zone of quality art for the reader. Anytime IDW has introduced a fan favorite character to their TMNT series it has been a big moment for the series and this issue continues the trend!
