Bad News - Youth Invade (Demo Review)

Bad News new demo Youth Invade is what hardcore punk should be. The music is heavy. The band has the lyrics. The production is a little rough here and there, which works nicely for the sound. It is a demo so that's to be expected. It also has really neat Bart Simpson meets hardcore inspired artwork, which is really neat.

Like I said, this is definitely a demo. I'm not judging it purely on production value, although I do like the way this demo sounds overall. It is a little rough around the edges in places, but it sounds cool and the band captures the style very well. "Lose My Mind" is a nice slice of Youth Of Today inspired hardcore and it's a really cool jam. "Wasted Away" sounds like the perfect skate thrash jam. The demo, in true hardcore fashion, is fairly short. It runs at around 6-7ish minutes long and it rocks its way through those minutes pretty well. The songs have some really nice sounding guitar riffs and the vocalist does a really solid job.

There is a ton of underground hardcore punk and sometimes you have to dig to find something that sticks out. I think Bad News does just that on this demo. It's a great representation of the sound and style. The artwork is really eye catching and interesting. It is a cool release and I'm definitely looking forward to hearing more from Bad News.
