Battleghost - Sound In The Signals Interview

I recently had the chance to interview Battleghost. Their new EP, Transient, is out May 15, 2014. Check out the full interview after the jump.

First off thanks for the interview. Your new EP, Transient, comes out on May 15, 2014. Can you tell me a little about the recording process of the EP and how long you guys worked on it?

No problem, thank you for having us. The recording process went really smooth. We were there for 7 days.

You recorded the album at The Looking Glass Recording. A lot of successful artists have worked there. What was it like working on the EP there?

We loved working with Kory and Travis! They are really great and fun guys to record with and really helped us make this EP as well as it can be. Day one we just sat down and went through the songs and mapped out what to change and all that stuff. Their ideas were right in line with ours.

I've saw descriptions about the new EP calling Transient a more mature release. In what ways do you think this releases shows maturity over your past releases?

Well, with recording alone it shows maturity. We travelled to record this one and did it with a studio that had a name for itself. Aside from that, we wrote these songs to be personal to us. Whether or not people can relate wasn't really our concern on this one. I'm sure people will be able to pick out a meaning of their own, but it is noticeable that these are real experiences. The details are all there.

You have a video for your song "Stateless" out now. What made you guys decide to shoot a video for the song and what was the video shoot like?

We chose Stateless because it had the vibe of a first single. We didn't want to throw our most personal out there first, and felt it was a better transition from where we were to where we're going.
The video shoot went really well. Our friends making it out for the band shots and going absolutely insane really made it come together haha.

If you had to pick one song off the new EP that best describes your band at this point in your career. Which song would you pick and why?

To pick one, it'd have to be Contentions. That was the one song we wrote in a room together with nothing but the feelings to keep the song flowing. It wasn't thought about, it just happened.

What do you guys have planned for the remainder of 2014?

For 2014 we plan to hit the road a few times, put out some more videos and have a great time getting our point across.

I guess that wraps it up. Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions. Do you have anything else you would like to add?

Nothing really to add. Thanks for the interview! We'll be seeing you this summer.
